Explore light, try different angles and turn everyday objects into creative photographs. Age-matched groups have a maximum of three children. Drop off for the hour; equipment is provided and learners receive copies of their own photos.

Parent & Child Photography Lesson in Harlow & Essex

Share a camera adventure: experiment with light, angles and creative challenges together in a relaxed studio lesson. Equipment can be provided, and you’ll receive copies of the photographs you take.

Small groups, big discoveries! Playful challenges help young photographers explore their cameras and tell their own stories.
1. Camera Explorers: safe handling, focus, viewpoints and a photo scavenger hunt.
2. Light Detectives: discover light, shadows, backgrounds and framing.
3. My Photo Story: create a themed mini project and choose favourite images.Children will mainly use my studio cameras during the course. If your child has their own camera, they’re welcome to bring it for guidance on using it. There’s no need to buy or bring a camera. Children are dropped off for the hour and collected at 11am. One booking covers the same child for all three lessons.
Bring a teddy or favourite small object to be the subject of your photographs, if you’d like. Choose something safe, non-breakable and easy to carry, such as a soft toy, toy animal or model. Please leave precious or irreplaceable items at home. Bringing something is completely optional; there are plenty of studio props to choose from.
Easter 2027 dates: Tuesday 30 March, Tuesday 6 April and Thursday 8 April, 10–11am each day. Bookings are open!

Make it yours, together. Enjoy a friendly creative course with the same small group, choosing subjects that interest you. No camera-settings knowledge is needed; Louise prepares the studio lighting and helps with starting settings.
1. Make It Yours: explore personality, details and surprising viewpoints.
2. Light, Backgrounds & Mood: try two lighting moods, swap fabrics and backgrounds, then choose your look.
3. Your Three-Picture Collection: photograph an introduction, a detail and a creative view of your chosen subject, then share your favourites.
We mainly use Louise’s studio Sony cameras, selected lenses and compatible triggers. Bring your own DSLR or mirrorless camera for guidance if you wish; tell Louise its make and model first. No equipment purchase or laptop is needed. Bring a small, safe object or choose from the studio props.
Simple reference sheets and optional practice challenges are included. Home practice can use a phone or camera, with nothing compulsory to submit. Editing tuition is separate.
One £150 booking reserves your place on all three Thursdays: 15, 22 and 29 April 2027, 10–11am. The group needs two learners and has a maximum of three. Louise will confirm whether it will run by 8 April. If minimum numbers are not reached, choose a full refund or an available transfer. Once confirmed, another learner cancelling does not by itself stop the course running. Please read the group terms before paying.

The three-lesson photography courses include simple reference sheets or age-appropriate activity cards, optional practice challenges and friendly feedback during lessons. Adult home practice can use a phone or camera, with no compulsory homework submission.
Copies of your agreed lesson photographs are shared through your own private Pic-Time gallery within seven days of each lesson. Children’s gallery links go to their parent or guardian. Adult course galleries remain available until 90 days after the final lesson. Your delivery email gives the exact expiry, so please download before that date. If using your own camera, agree which photographs to copy during the lesson; you keep the originals.
Photographs are supplied as taken. Professional retouching is not included, and Lightroom Classic editing tuition is separate.

One 60-minute private lesson · Beginner editing · £85
Give your favourite photograph its finishing touches, with friendly, one-to-one guidance in Adobe Lightroom Classic.
We’ll find your photographs in Lightroom Classic, explore light and colour, crop and straighten, then export a JPEG to your laptop. We aim to complete one edit, with a second image if time allows. A simple reference sheet and optional practice challenge help you keep going at home.
Bring your laptop and charger, with Lightroom Classic installed, signed in and working, and 5–10 backed-up RAW or JPEG photographs available locally. Adobe software or a subscription is not included. If your photographs are already in Classic, leave them in place and check they open without missing-file warnings.
Choose one available Monday or Friday at 10am from February to April 2027. £85 covers one private 60-minute adult editing lesson. These are standalone date choices, not a course across all the listed dates. Your finished JPEGs stay on your laptop; a Pic-Time gallery is not included. Software installation, complex catalogue repairs, Photoshop and advanced retouching are not included.

Lightroom Classic: £85 for one private 60-minute lesson at 10am. Choose from 8, 12, 22 or 26 February; 5, 8, 12, 19 or 22 March; or 12, 16, 19, 23, 26 or 30 April 2027, subject to availability. These are individual lesson choices.
One course booking reserves all three fixed lessons for one learner. Every date is shown before payment, so please check you can attend them all.
Both group courses need two learners and have a maximum of three. Booking and payment reserve a place; they do not by themselves confirm minimum numbers. Louise confirms whether a group will run no later than seven days before it starts. If minimum numbers are not reached, choose a full refund or an available transfer, without compulsory credit or a private upgrade. Once confirmed, another learner cancelling does not by itself stop the course running.
Group courses: cancel at least seven days before the first lesson for a full refund. Later cancellations are assessed under the full policy, allowing for costs saved and replacement bookings. A missed lesson does not include an automatic refund, replacement or private catch-up. Full group arrangements are shown before payment. Private courses have their own cancellation and rescheduling terms.
Tips aren’t expected for Learn with Louise sessions. Select 0% at checkout to pay the advertised price. No retained processing fees are deducted when a full refund is due.

No. All photography equipment is provided during the sessions. If a learner already has their own camera they are welcome to bring it along, but this is not required.

Photography lessons are generally suitable for children aged 7 years and above, depending on their confidence and interest level.
Younger children may benefit from attending a parent and child session, where a parent or guardian can join the learning experience.

Children’s group workshops have a maximum of three learners, so every child has plenty of personal guidance and time to try things out. This limit applies to the children’s group classes. Please contact Louise to discuss the size of a private parent & child or family session.

No. The sessions are designed to be practical and creative rather than classroom based.
Learners spend the majority of the session using cameras, experimenting with lighting, exploring composition, and trying creative photography activities.

Yes. Children are dropped off for the one-hour group workshop and collected at the end. Please arrive 5–10 minutes before the start so we can settle your child in, and return promptly for collection.

For a three-lesson adventure, choose Camera Confidence, a small group course at £150 per person for 2–3 adults, on 15, 22 and 29 April 2027, 10–11am; or Make It Yours, a private course for one adult at £240 total, on 13, 20 and 27 April 2027, 10–11am. Yes. Hibbard Photography offers a limited number of work experience opportunities for students interested in photography or creative industries.
Enquiries from schools and colleges are welcome, including placements organised through local education providers.

Yes! Photography learners receive their agreed as-taken photographs in a private Pic-Time gallery within seven days of each session. These celebrate their own work; editing tuition is separate.
For standalone workshops, one-to-one photography and Parent & Child lessons, gallery access lasts 90 days after delivery. For the children’s three-lesson course, access lasts 90 days after the final delivery. Adult three-lesson course galleries remain available for 90 days after the final lesson.
Children’s galleries are delivered to their parent or guardian. Please download your photographs before the gallery expires. Lightroom Classic editing lessons use your own files and export JPEG copies to your laptop; they do not include a photography gallery.

The studio is on the first floor at Moot House, Harlow. There are two stairlifts, with approximately four or five steps between them; access is not step-free. Please contact Louise before booking to discuss whether the access and session will suit your family.
